Ration Feeding Beef Cattle

Hey

I’m wondering if anyone here has had much to do with ration feeding cattle? Do you have a formula that works? Have you tried and just can’t get it to work despite all efforts?

In particular I’d really like to know how much feed you allow for per head, per day and what you are feeding.

Thanks in advance.

Assignment help

Hi everyone my name is Anthony, I'm currently studying agriculture and I need some advice.
I was Just wondering if anyone can give me a rough estimate of the overall profit you will receive from a 300-400 acre property owning around 150 cattle. I understand it is a hard question to answer... but any info will be helpful.

Thanks :)

Agistment gone bad!

Hi, I’m looking for some advice. a lady id met online offered to agist her cattle here for a few months which we offered for free. The aim was the cattle would munch it down for a few months and then our sheep could follow and have lots of feed for summer and rest a paddock. This was 6 months ago. I have been asking her for several months to remove the cattle. It’s costing us over $150 a week to feed our sheep who are stuck in a paddock with zero feed and the cows have now completely cleared the other paddock. I get excuse after excuse as to why she hasn’t collected them.

Acreage with a tree plantation

Has anyone got any information or experience buying a property in Australia (Queensland) where there is already a tree plantation on the acreage? There is a property for sale that has 600 Gympie Messmate trees that were planted 15 years ago, so my questions are:

Olive trees

I am wondering if anyone knows if there would be a market for planted Olive trees, eg possible sale to advanced tree nurseries, or anyone else someone might be able to think of, who would dig them up and take them. The trees I have in mind are 5 - 10 years old, about 700 of them. If I were to purchase this property, I would prefer to clear the grove and use the area for grazing cattle. Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas.

Animal Scat

I know this is a weird question. I have just purchased 40 acres just north of Gympie. Is there such a thing as a website or app, that can help identify animal scat? I have quite a lot of the same around the block , and cannot figure out what wild animal it is from. Any help would be appreciated.

electric fence help

Hi all, I looking to set up around 3km of offset electric fence for added security to house some sheep. I have not dealt with electric fences before and I'm a bit unsure on a few things, although I understand how to set it up. Firstly, If a tree was to fall on the fence pushing steel pickets over allowing them to make contact with live wire will this cause and sparks or potential start a fire? Secondly, will wet vegetation contacting the live wire cause any sparks? Lastly, the fence is in a relatively dry area, can I run my earth lead onto the existing fence as well pickets in the ground?

Cattle preg testing via blood is easy and effective

Has anyone else in SA tried Cattle preg testing via Blood Samples. You get accurate test results back within hours confirming Pregnant or Empty status. Accurate from 28 days from last mating. Its $44.60 for one sample on a fee sliding scale down to $9.90/sample for 10 samples or more. You can take the bloods or local staff will come and do it for you. With limited paddock feed, high hay costs (if you can source any) this has helped with our herd management.

Biodegradable soap for septic systems?

Hi guys, I have just set up my new septic system using a pair of IBCs and want to do the right thing and minimise the negative impact the outlet (soak away) water will have on the environment. I'm thinking that we really should be using biodegradable washing products. I've found biodegradable dishwashing liquid at Woolies, easy, but couldn't find any similar soaps or handwashes.
