Cup and saucer tanks

Anybody got comments on these type of tanks for cattle.

Hi Barra,

I have no experience with using these tanks for my animals, but I have seen them. The only comment I would have to make is that perhaps they may be a little hard to clean if the animals were to drop dung into them (happens a lot).

In my cattle yards I have an old steel bathtub with a float valve in it. the tub rests on a steel frame, to make it easy to clean. It is hooked up to a regular tank. The tank is filled by a pump from the dam. the float valve works on the same principle as the cistern in a toilet. As the water level drops the float valve allows more water to flow in. If you have the tank on a stand so that the trough/tub is lower than it, the trough can fill by gravity.

Can you provide a link to the type of tank you are looking at? It might be a bit easier if we can visualise what you are looking at and then see how suitable it will be for cattle.
